File Transfer Protocol (FTP), is the most popular method for transmitting files to a web hosting account. Using an FTP program that’s pre-installed on your desktop or laptop PC, you can make a connection to your hosting server and copy all of the web files that you need with several mouse clicks. You can do this using a simple-to-navigate GUI and it is as easy as dragging ‘n’ dropping the files in question. The advantage of using FTP is that you will be able to set up different FTP accounts, each with a different level of access to your web space, so if you need to grant someone access, for example – a designer, they’ll be able to connect only to one particular folder and will not be able to access the remaining content or any other information, such as private details. Three things are mandatory to be able to connect via FTP – a hostname, which is normally an IP or a domain name, a user name and a password.
